This past weekend I was fortunate enough to be hired to photograph some portraits for a family living in San Diego, California. What I wasn't so lucky with, was the weather. At the time of the photo shoot, it was raining outside, so I had to photograph the entire portrait session inside the family's home. Being the on-location photographer I am, I decided to create a mini home studio by setting up a hand painted muslin backdrop in the family's living room and work with available window light supplemented off-camera strobes. I originally planned to shoot primarily with direct and reflected window sunlight, but the sky was so dark with clouds, I had to creatively use flash to add warmth to the images. Even though I photographed the entire family, I later decided to only post a few of my favorite photos of the children.
