Arashiyama Bamboo Forest Kyoto Japan Chris Keeney Experimental

Black and white infrared photo with lens flare in the Arashiyama Bamboo Forest in Kyoto Japan

After hiking part of the Nakahechi section of the Kumano Kodo trail, which is part of Japan’s Ancient pilgrimage Network, my mind was immersed in the beauty of nature. I have hiked through bamboo forests before but I never was inspired to create like this one. I think I did a series of 10 or 15 digital infrared photos with a Canon R5 mirrorless camera and a Hoya R72 filter. Later when I had time to process the images I was overwhelmed with joy seeing the photos that appeared on the screen. As if Mother Nature herself was talking to me. I felt blessed.
