Whenever I do shoots outside I rarely ever put people in direct sunlight. Instead I will use a diffuser over the top of the person and reflect sunlight back into the shot using a silver or gold collapsible reflector. I remember this shoot being difficult to light since there wasn’t any solid shade and if there was it wasn’t in a nice location to photograph in. So I will always throw a large diffuser in my kit just in case I have to stop down the sunlight. The only problem with that is that you need to reflect light back into the shot to give it some life.
