Chris Keeney standing on the sand in Anza Borrego Desert State Park lit by full moon and star light at night

This image means a lot to me. I guess that’s why it was on my homepage of my old website for so long. Why you ask? I guess, it encapsulates so many things in life I love so much. Camping out in nature. Being out in the wilderness under the stars at night when it’s quiet. The full moon shining so bright in the starry night sky you can experiment with creating long exposure photographs that the look like it’s taken during the daytime. The desert is such a mysterious place at night. To walk out into the night and only hear your feet crunching in the sand. It’s a peaceful place. You’re sharing this time with friends but you’re now away from the campfire and can’t hear the sound of people talking. Only the wind flowing through the desert chaparral, ocotillo or cottonwood trees. Maybe a kangaroo mouse or a jackrabbit about. Life is good.
