Pie Tin Pinhole Camera Paper Negative Photography

color photograph of a large round metal two piece tin container has a picture of latticed cherry pie image. A small piece of black photo tape is place on top and center to be used as a shutter for the pinhole camera

When I first got into pinhole photography, I would search thrift stores for interesting containers that would make a good pinhole camera. This cherry pie tin was a rare find. I painted the inside black and made a pinhole for it and loaded some 5×7” photographic paper inside with some blue painters tape. The only issue was that the tin was round and in order to use it I had to find ways to prop it up and keep it still while I made the exposure. Whenever I would use it out and about it was a great conversation starter. People are like, “What is that?!”
