Canon PowerShot G7 X Mark III Point and Shoot Camera

I’m a bit bias when it comes to using the Canon PowerShot G7 X Mark III because my work camera is either a R5 or 5D Mark IV. There’s something to be said about being familiar with the dials and GUI (graphic user interface) of a camera. It’s more intuitive and you don’t realize it but it really saves time when you can navigate through the camera’s menu system easily.

I bought G7x as a replacement for my Sony Rx100 MKIII when it got water damaged but honestly, I should have just gotten another RX100. Even though it has a 1″-type, 20MP Stacked CMOS sensor and built-in IS (Image stabilization), I still prefer the RX100 over this camera. I think this camera was built more in mind for a blogger who needs photos and video than for a professional photographer that just needs a small pocket camera. Now don’t get me wrong, this camera is capable of taking some great photos, I just think it’s a little behind when compared to the RX100.

I would also recommend getting a small padded case that has a detachable shoulder or neck strap. Sure, it’s a pocket camera but with its steep price tag, I don’t think you want to get into a habit of storing it in your pocket. Also make sure the the zipper opening of the case it easy to open and close with one hand. Trust me, it’s best to be able to access the camera quickly when you see something. Also I like the option of the adjustable strap being removable.

To this day, this is the camera I use when I travel or go on hikes.
