Feather Boa Kelp (Egregia menziesii) Underwater La Jolla

Black and white underwater photograph of Feather Boa Kelp (Egregia menziesii) in La Jolla San Diego California

I think kelp or seaweed (whatever you want to call it) is really interesting stuff. It grows relatively fast, it’s edible, it creates a habitat for sealife and it’s really beautiful. This feather boa kelp (Egregia menziesii) caught my eye as I was diving off the coast of La Jolla. I thought that a high contrast black and white photo would show off how amazing the shapes and textures of this underwater plant. Photographed with a Sony RX100 MKIII in an underwater housing in 2021.
