Kohei Nawa White Deer Sculpture Garden Terrace Kioicho Tokyo

black and white photograph looking up at a white deer sculpture with a skyscraper behind it in Tokyo Japan

What is it about things that seem out of place? When I first saw this sculpture (White Deer) by the Japanese artist, Kohei Nawa, I thought “wow, that’s odd and unusual”. I instantly liked it. Even the building behind it seemed like it belonged somewhere else (not the building in this photo though). When I started to look at it closer I realized that it’s all white color and the overcast Tokyo sky made for an interesting intersection of the sculpture and the skyscraper behind it. They seem to fuse together in a strange but purposeful way.
