Something Went Wrong and Gave Chris Keeney an Idea

Well… I can’t say this photographic experiment was intentional. I was processing some of the photos I took while traveling in Thailand and as I was adjusting the settings in Adobe Lightroom, all of a sudden the screen glitched and was covered with digital noise. I’m like, “what the heck?”. I didn’t pay it much attention at first but it did it to another image that happened to be an infrared photo. I looked at the screen and I thought… “Hmmm, that’s interesting”. As if the computer had its own interpretation of my photo. I’m not saying I want my processing software to have a mind of its own but I was gonna go with it for a minute. I took a screen grab of the computer monitor and saved it to my hard drive. I actually took a few others but I thought this one was the most interesting. Come on Adobe, let’s get that fixed or add it as a filter that people can choose if they want it. Honestly this image kinda speaks to the whole AI thing that’s happening in the world right now. Do I like it? Sometimes, although as a content provider, it makes me weary. Not sure where my photos will end up now and who will take credit for it. Just sayin’

Apparently this has been an issue in Lightroom for a while. I did find a fix for it in the Adobe forum:

• Go to “preferences” -> “Performance”, and under “Camera RAW Cache settings”: “Purge cache”
• Also, under “Performance”: set “Use Graphics Processor” to “Custom” instead of “Auto”, and then: only “Use GPU for display”, and not • “Use GPU for image processing”.
• Upgrade to the latest version, if not already
• Restart Lightroom
