Homemade coffee tin camera using photographic paper negative pinhole photo

This photo has kinda of a funny story that goes with it. When I was working on my first book (Pinhole Cameras: A DIY Guide) I wanted to generate some new pinhole images that were created from cameras that were going to be featured in the book. In the case of this image, I chose to travel around San Diego to get some iconic shots of points of interest, like the Coronado Bridge. In order to get the angles I wanted, I had to wade out into the water and place the camera (coffee can pinhole) on a rock that was submerged under the water. I then put a rock on top of the camera, opened the shutter and started a timer for the exposure. I forgot that the by has a tidal flux just like the ocean and so during the exposure, water was rising over the top of the camera. I’m glad I put the rock on there to keep it from getting washed away.
